I (April) wanted to share a little bit about my church peeps being awesome.

Here’s the background:
My husband is a full-time high-school band director and he’s in the National Guard, so he has to be gone a lot. He’s about to come home from a two-week long military training. It’s always hard to be away from your spouse, but it’s especially hard for me right now because I’m currently a stay-at-home-mom and we have an 18-month-old son and a 2-year-old son (he’s almost 3). My family all live at least four hours away.

In the last two weeks, my church friends have helped clean my house twice, cooked me dinner, fixed my air-conditioner, mowed my lawn, baby-sat, dog-sat (so I could go visit family) and kept me company. And a lot of this help was given without me even having to ask. It’s difficult (and a little embarrassing) to accept so much help, but I know I’ve needed it.

I don’t often speak in absolutes, but this is what every church should be like. This is what Jesus Christ wants for his Body. He wants us to love each other and to put that love into action. If we are living in the love of Jesus, that love will overflow into loving action toward others. I thank God for my church.

We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
